Don't be silly. Even if domestic oil was 100% subsidized, we still would not have enough oil to be self-sufficient.

Guess you still can't read basic English.

I stated that both oil and Natural Gas drilling should be encouraged.

I've stated NUMEROUS TIMES that I believe we need to focus upon using DOMESTIC NAT-GAS supplies to replace our imported oil. There is NO DOUBT that we have sufficient supplies of domestic Nat-Gas to last us at least 50 years or more. That should be MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME to advance the PHEV technology, and possibly even non-platinum based Fuel Cell technology, whereupon we'll have in place the necessary gaseous storage capacity.

Put in place a nationwide network of Pebble Bed Reactors, providing large quantities of baseload power, but able to use excess power to produce hydrogen during off-peak hours (and even use solar and wind) and we'll have a completely self-sufficient domestic supply of power that is environmentally friendly and non-polluting.
