Bank of New York Mellon says its profit tumbled nearly 95 percent in the fourth quarter, due to sizable losses on investments and a severance-related charge. Excluding certain one-time charges and expenses, the bank says it earned $53 million, or 5 cents per share, down from $700 million, or 61 cents per share, in the fourth quarter of 2007....
