I'm tempted not to respond, but having people say I said things that I didn't is one of my pet peeves.

And JS - please direct your comment to Tim who brought up a closeted nasty gay man. please.

Until this post I hadn't used "closeted" or "gay" in this conversation. As for Atwater, whether or not he was gay, doesn't really matter much to me, and is mostly irrelevant to his political ideas and actions.

Also I didn't bring him up either.

This post did.

As for saying he was right, I said nothing of the sort. I don't see how "nasty" or "tough" equals "right".

Of course he was right, as in factually correct, about quite a lot of things, but he was also wrong about others.

Atwater admitted his sins, Tim will not admit he did.

Atwater admitted that he had been nasty and said inappropriate things. I never said otherwise. He apologized for certain statements. I never said he didn't, or that he shouldn't have.

chooseanother, I didn't see Atwater's sexuality being an issue until someone kept bringing it up. It began to confuse me, since I like to consider a man's private and public lives to be separate compartments. Providence has never been generous with me when it comes to having lasting friends or steadfast love. Even so, my goodness of spirit and of ethical behavior is my responsibility alone. And yes, I do like to dance with the one who brung me. After all, she put her affection and loyalty up front, and I would never pee on taht.

It's like three in the morning. If I'm drifting off course, grant me a bit o'slack.

cheers js
