Yes but we fought nazi and japanese city bombing with carpet bombing of our own even using nukes. That was the greatest generation. Now we are fighting in al quaeda a group that will use any and all wmds that they can develop/get ahold of to hit us with. What would the greatest gen do in such a cirumstance. What would obama do to prevent such an attack? We should be as civilized as we can be but put nothing off the table with such an existential threat. Chrissy says this is a simple police matter. I dont think we can be so cavalier. I dont think a president can be either and i expect him to do whats necessary even if he one day is acccused of war crimes...

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions.

As Michael pointed out, missiles and tanks, and incendiary bombs covering Tokyo followed by the use of two atomic bombs, as well as thousands and thousands of American soldiers' lives given in the Ardennes, tiny islands in the Pacific, and of course, on the beaches at Normandy.

He seems to have forgotten how the earlier generations faced down these threats.

It seems you have as well.
