I agree with that (above the fray part) Gloop, but am mindful that GWB really did that, to his peril. And frankly, IMO, our peril as well. We have lost as a Country the ability to have a civil discussion ....

We HAVE to get back to being able to discuss issues, and so far in the last 4 days of a new Administration, I see little that encourages me to believe that divisive isn't the name of the game so far. Wish I didn't think that, but I do.

Steamrollers work for awhile, but soon become rusty, and obsolete. Especially when used with salt.

It will be interesting to see just where we are by the end of February....that's about 6 weeks, so we should be able to tell more by then.

He is our ONLY President, so it's to our advantage to have things better. But so far, I think we're seeing more Rahm Emanuel than we are the President.

Obama and the Dems are determined to shut out opposing voices except when they need the Republicans for cover.

For Democrats, compromise means doing it their way and liking it.

One of my husband's favorite expressions for this sort of situation is: "I may have to take your sh*t, but I don't have to eat it."

That should be the GOP message, imo.

They, for once, need to stand up for their principles. If the Dems are intent on their drunken spending, the Republicans should just vote *no* and let the opposition take the fall. You know they'll take any possible credit no matter what and will blame the Republicans if given any chance.

I think it's also time for Republicans to take their case to the people. You just watch what's happening with small businesses. No one is going to continue to put their heart and soul into small business just to please Obama and his tax the rich rhetoric.

So, to bottom line it, you can't be above this fray. That was tried by Bush and you see what that got him.
