The replies to this question suggest just how naive and uniformed people -- those on this board -- but those all across America, too, are. The simple truth is that Bush had these people at Gitmo because there is nothing else to do with them. Gitmo was the ultimate, ideal solution to the problem because you cannot rationally house them INSIDE America. If Gitmo is closed, they will end up imprisoned in Afghanistan, more than likely, in a facility identical to Gitmo but without the proximity to the states and one the the people of the US don't have to think about. The very best you can say about the Obama position on Gitmo is that it is "Superficial".
