Pretty much the UK model. A large government fund or actually two of them I believe acquired up to controlling equity in those banks, who asked for a bail out. The conditions were so harsh, that Wallenberg (largest private group controlling much of the Swedish industry) owned SEB opted out and re financed in other ways. Those conditions included getting rid of some management and hiring others to run the banks until they could be turned around and re privatized. The Swedish state thus eventually came out clean with few if any write offs.

But that was other times and a different society. Who know if this would work in the US in our days?
