"I think it's safe to say that RecordIt WILL NOT be distributed on Zip disc."

Rocky,
Why not? They might use the software to get someone to buy another Zip disk, and if they fill it up with enough demos, that disk might stay kind of full. You weren't implying someone thought they would give the disks away? If it's on CD there's no reason to put it on Zip, but if you can sell another disk with possibly a slight premium...

It might sound like a real deal--lots of software, and another a Zip disk to boot, but the buyer might not want to delete their master copy just for extra storage, a la Tools diskette. They might even be able to sell space on the disk for other demos--which I believe was mentioned a while back when Iomega announced Recordit. Even without a premium, that could lead to another disk sold. I am kind of curious if anyone actually bought a Zip Tools disk from IOM.

>>I think it's safe to say that RecordIt WILL NOT be distributed on Zip disc. If they do, I think you should immediately question the competence of Iomega's distribution department. CD-Roms cost about $1.50 (at the most) per unit bulk maNufacture -- this is including the CD, jewel case, and booklet. Zip disc distribution would cost considerably more. Remember that Iomega Corp. doesn't even use Zip for their own internal data distribution. Too expensive. They bought a bunch of CD-Burners a while back for a reason-- they provide more storage (650MB) for less money.<<

Rocky -

While most of what you're saying in this post is true, I'm not sure I get your point. Yes, CD-R disks are cheaper per megabyte than Zip disks. They're also cheaper than Jaz disks, SyJet disks, EZ Flyer disks, EZ 135 disks, etc. We know this. Is that supposed to mean that removable storage based on magnetic media is doomed? If so, you'd better sell your SYQT.

BTW, the CD burners were to be used to create disks for the distribution of beta software. Specifically, in preparation for the beta program for Buz, and later to be used in beta testing for other products.

RecordIt&#153 is available on Zip&#153 disk.

Rocky, 3 days ago you posted I think it's safe to say that RecordIt WILL NOT be distributed on Zip disc. If they do, I think you should immediately question the competence of Iomega's distribution department. CD-Roms cost about $1.50 (at the most) per unit bulk manufacture -- this is including the CD, jewel case, and booklet. Zip disc distribution would cost considerably more.

You might want to findout what is going on in the real world, or you could just continue making a fool of yourself.

It rained this weekend so we hung out in the mall. We also went to Computer City store. They have a large display of Color Gigopacks with RecordIt&#153 on one of the disk for $149. I think it is safe to say that they were already in the store when you said that it was safe to say that RecordIt&#153 would not be distributed on Zip&#153 disk.
