However, to point the finger of blame at me, an American, for a death in Pakistan, a country in crisis because of local terrorism, is a great exaggeration of responsibility. And a ridiculously obvious one

The country was Afghanistan and the man died at the hands of American soldiers who were allowed to torture by the president of the US, a man elected to that office by Americans. Maybe Americans would be more careful whome they put in office if they were held more accountable. And yes, you are responsible whether you like it or not.
