If Geithner's nanny had an expired visa, that's not the same thing.

It's not an issue with me.

I'm only concerned that he failed to pay his taxes to the tune of 35 grand.

Chavez was the one who hired an illegal and withdrew her name for the nomination Bush gave her.

I'm just surprised that President Obama's nominees don't hold themselves to a similar standard.

Janet works for an investment bank here in Chicago as a research librarian. Last year they hired a librarian from Germany who obtained a work permit. It expired, even though the paper work was in order and submitted on time and it is a rubber stamp process to have it renewed at this point. The government agreed that it would be renewed and that the delay was a government problem. That did not change the fact, at all, that the person COULD NOT work here until the process was complete. She stayed home (went back to Germany? I forget) without pay for three weeks and then resumed working.
