Wood hired an undocumented nanny but did pay the taxes. Zoe Baird didn't pay the taxes on her driver and nanny.

Both violated laws and knew that the scrutiny would be too intense for Attorney General nominees. After all, their duty as AG would be to enforce the laws they violated.

Except for the fact that there is a Dem-controlled Senate, why should Geithner, who only paid up [partially] when it became apparent he would be nominated, be treated any differently?
