You say and do everything in your power to disprove and criticize, instead of doing something useful, like making the world a better place.

You just accept the hype and refuse to filter it through a rational and logical filter. And then you find excuses for when the cracks in your diamond start to appear (like 30% of the wind mills in Washington State sitting idle or operating far below designed standards).

Maybe if some more people had spent time disproving and criticizing Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme, he wouldn't have gotten away with a $50 Billion scam..

But now you want to sell us your "magic elixir" for making the planet a "better place", despite the fact that it's cost could ruin this nation and delay the advance of VIABLE AND LONG-TERM alternative solutions. Next thing you'll be accusing me of is trying to "destroy the planet"..

Your world is one of distractions and short-term goals devoid of cost benefit analysis. My logic is based upon a longer-term focus and sustainable and cost-effective alternative energy. And if we're going to have a stimulus package, it needs to be focused upon providing an energy infrastructure that provides the greatest benefit for the lowest cost.

I want electric cars. In fact, I want hydrogen and electric PHEVs. But I'm enough of a realist that not all the chips are in place quite YET. And I don't want to see financial resources WASTED on ill-conceived, short term, solutions that might delay a longer term solution.

I've laid out my ideas about Pebble Bed Reactors (as I dream of fusion power.. ;0), as well as the initial emphasis on Natural Gas for transportation. When the electrical grid is sufficient for hydrolysis during off-peak hours, and the cost of fuel cells has substantially decreased, then we're been fully prepared for a hydrogen based infrastructure.

But that's at least 10 years off, IMO. A lot of work to be done before hand to achieve it, including non-platinum based FCs being advanced and perfected. But in the mean-time, we need more domestic production of fossil energy, as well as alternatives like geo-thermal, and possibly wave energy (which I find intriguing due to consistency of tidal patterns).. Alternative energies that create BASE-LOAD power, not generating capacity that is subject to the whims of nature and clouds.

Your assuming the conclusion of the debate in order to make your point in the debate. You have to establish that your ideas are ones that are useful, and will make the world a better place first, before taking the action. In order to show that the ideas and theories and plans have to stand up to the criticism and counterarguments.
