Is it 5,000 positions or 5,000 actual workers and where are they located? Many might be overseas. This is no big deal.

Microsoft cuts not even a 'hiccup,' Seattle tech leaders optimistic

I spoke today with a friend/client that is in a high level mngmt position @ msft. They suggested that msft may hire at least that many people in other areas of the company....

Letting people go in areas of the company where they are overstaffed or inefficient, and hiring in new areas of focus & growth.

Hope so!

There are still quite a few tower cranes at work expanding the campus.
