I get confused about this on topic thing as you well know. So I really do appreciate your tolerance. And regarding the the following I couldn't resist. Been reading Nassim Talib's The Black Swan-lol. This is a rhetorical post.

I must say this, and I do believe this is true, there is a great irony here. Very often the most important things about the movement of gold and silver, as you know better than almost anyone, is not specifics or charts or even the fundamentals of a stock, but rather causation and magnitude of events affecting gold and gold stocks.

Everything got swept down in this last stock market freefall. And it was caused by an outliar variable few of the financial pros saw and certainly took outside of the box thinking to see or know. So knowing the freefall was coming was more important than any other variable to gold stocks. We just saw that in spades. So making that connection,

On topic generally means the specifics/micro ideas of gold and silver or stocks e.g. charting, or a companies drill holes. Pure visiting seems to be fine also, but discussion of literatrue not so much-lol? But I digress-lol.

So if one gets into the actual fundamental causes of a rise in gold and silver/macro, that is often considered off topic e.g. was it the unregulated banks gambling with our money at high leverages that created this monster depression? And how bad is it, it is flirting with an off topic spanking or even thread death.

Now it would seem to me, this macro information is often the most important information to figure out. And I also must say watching the markets and dollar, these past few weeks and months, huge moves in gold and silver sure seem to have been caused by almost amorphous macro financial fundamentals (off topic-lol)reasons e.g. is Briton going to go bankrupt, is the pound going to reach parity with the dollar and euro, or is the EU going to break up, because Moodys rated CCC paper AAA paper according the the TV program NOW which aired on PBS a few weeks ago and which was the "off topic" post that started all of this-lol!

But I will do my very best in the future, to keep from discussing any of the really important ideas regarding the movements in gold and silver-lol.
