But you work 7 days, 12 hours at 4 bucks all paid on seismic.

Even so that is (was) a rugged buck.

We used to make about 1900 a month on explo from 1978 to 1984. 12 hours a day 7 days. Really didn't mind it. Nature of the job. Career sucker is another way to put it. By the hour that was only $5.10.

One time I worked for Noranda as an assayer. I worked a lot of voluntary overtime to get the job done. Noranda were the direct inheritors of the slave mentality of the Pharoahs of Egypt. I believe they used the original whips. I figured I was earning about about $3.30 an actual hour worked. 1981.

I don't mind a lot of work if it is interesting. Not having it is a curse.

To make a meagre living in Toronto, own a new vehicle etc, you need about 19 bucks an hour. That allows you $2400 after taxes. You won't get it.

Min wage is about $1500/month in Canada. 38% of all wages earned in Canada are minimum wages. They pay 14% of that in taxes and other contributions. So a Min wage earner takes home perhaps $7.37 per hour or $294 per week in Canada.
