I think LGND will come through--they have a great record so far.

>>What about all the conferences LGND attends? How many analysts attend and from where? I can't believe there are many biotech analysts that aren't aware of LGND. In fact, do you or does anyone know how many biotech analysts lurk around wall st?<<

Good question. I know all the large firms have at least 1, but several have more than 1. V1 might know. Henry?

>>I'm starting to think that LGND is the Rodney Dangerfield of biotechs, it justing isn't getting the respect it deserves considering the overwhelming postive press/deals/science/and thread it enjoys.<<

Certainly if we were to go by the thread (or the soccer), LGND is seriously undervalued. As far as analysts go, LGND is getting respect (5 of 5 analyst rate a buy, 4 a strong buy). But not price wise. Just have to wait for those dummies to catch up with us smart guys. (:>)

"I'm stretching the analagy a bit, but I'm starting to think that LGND is the Rodney Dangerfield of biotechs, it justing isn't getting the respect it deserves ..."

Stephen, with all due respect I think that Cytogen already holds this dubious distinction =:!O Their IR has turned understatement into an art form. Cytogen could cure 3 forms of cancer tomorrow and the release would still be so lukewarm you'ld wonder if this was a GOOD THING or not. Plus they have a knack for releasing positive information right when the market is heading south in a big way. It's a wonder they didn't post something interesting today while every investor in the world was hiding under their desks and wondering if they should sell sell sell or take a deep breath and let it blow over.

Ligand does get a lot of respect for a money loosing biotech with "potential" up the whazoo. Goodness knows how to actually value the stock currently. Still seems pretty cheap to me given the reasonable estimates of down the road EPS but LGND is still very highly speculative especially in a tech crazy market that looks little further than the next quarter. That said, personally, I'm extremely impressed with their pipeline and now that they have a partner to actually help move a portion of it along I have every confidence that we're sitting on a mega winner.

All IMHO of course!
