I didn't laugh. I took it for what it reflected on the outlook of the other members of the Finance Committee.

Sometimes I wonder if the Peter Principle is at work, with Schumer and with Bernanke. So far, I think Bernanke knows what he is doing, except about public speaking.

>>like asking a 5 year old who's better at physics Einstein or Hawkings <<

My favorite subject. <G>

Breaking down your question, to "who is better" ....... it depends on what the meaning of is, is.

Hawking is better because he is alive. He has addressed controversy and new information.

PBS says "He has come to be thought of as the greatest mind in physics since Albert Einstein."

But "since Albert Einstein" allows for the possibility that Einstein was better or that he wasn't better. And "thought of" doesn't mean he is.

A 5 year old would know that Hawking is better, first because he "is" and the other one "isn't" and second because he could build on blocks of knowledge learned from the earlier one and from others.

IMO.
