Sig,

Everything you always wanted to know about PHG:

Philips Electrics Nv Holding Co. (PHG)

PHILIPS ELECTRICS reported nine-month income from operations of
3.16 mln guilders vs 1.52 mln guilders. Revenues were 52.3 mln
guilders vs 47.8 mln guilders.

PHILIPS ELECTRICS said its long-awaited strategy review was still
being mulled over, adding the company may look prudently at
acquisitions and further joint ventures. Speaking at a news
conference to announce a near six-fold increase in third
quarter net profit from normal operations to 721 million guilders,
vice chairman Dudley Eustace said Philips was not rushing to
bring out the statement which the company has previously said
would be next year. (Reuters 04:56 AM ET 10/23/97)

PHILIPS ELECTRICS said its vigorous restructuring over the past year
should deliver a sustainable impact. "The results that we're
picking up from restructuring in principle are fundamental pickups
in results and should continue," finance director Jan Hommen said.
The electronics giant earlier announced a near six-fold increase
in net profit from normal operations to 721 million guilders in the
3Q.

PHILIPS ELECTRICS said the planned sale of its Philips Car Sales
(PCS) unit to Mannesman/VDO of Germany was in keeping with the
group's strategy of focusing on core activities. In a statement,
Philips chairman Cor Boonstra said Mannesman was a good fit for
PCS and would help the division become a leading first-tier
supplier to the car industry.
