Anindo if you look at how those historical secular bears play out, what happens is there is massive consolidation like we have had and stocks stay FLAT over the entire period thus causing the PEs to catch up. Secular bears don't end with one sharp spike way down. The spike occurs early on and then in the middle like we have had and net net the stocks stay flat. There are a lot of stocks with single digit PEs right now and even in the 70s, there were tons of growth stocks like Atari, Apple with sky high PEs.
