Fortunately I skipped out of Texas in 1980 to explore the big, wide world and never put down any roots there again. I suspect that even there, firm conservative majorities may struggle in the wake of the political rubble left by Bush-Cheney-Rove. People are just sick of that kind of politics, outside the red meat base.

And like some other formerly reliable red states (VA, NC, etc.) the constant population influx and growth in the Hispanic minority could do a lot to start painting Texas more purple.
