al,

i listened to the almost the whole line at audio breakthroughs; including the studio series.
i was ready to go up to 2k and sat through some focals and quads.

i was simply floored by how sweet those atoms were for vocals, jazz, and single instruments (like piano). since i do want to 'baby' william's ears, hence no pounding bass or crazy db's, i felt the atoms were the ones. even the sales manager agreed, as he was the one recommending them over the s1 and s2, which were the ones i intended to auditioned.

frankly, aside from the low range, which is fantastic for bach, i really cannot find any reason not to save 2k+ with the atoms.

it sounded very much like british speakers, like the mordaunt shorts i had in my dorm back in the 80's. the imaging for something this tiny and the power presence was delicious. bright but true.

i am glad i did not buy sight (ear) unseen.. and went amazon.com

the only sad part was seeing how one of my favorite high end shops have struggled through these hard economic times. place was not really like what i remembered 5 or 6 years ago...
am glad they are still in business, though. one of the few survivors in the city area.
