hello ep, i believe there is a material difference between all metals of the baser sort against the noblest which, planetwide aggregated, would not fill an large ilving room much less than a macmansion.

otoh, science can almost always be counted on to replace material with other material, but

otoh, science can always be counted upon to find new uses for the most inconvenient material.

space, the final frontier, as nations race for the stars, will doubtless generate much demand for the most exotic of the exotics, and when so, the national imperatives involved will turn what was very extremely expensive into what would be beyond reach of mortals.

it is a theory, in any case :0)
