In the DR, you can bring legal prostitutes back to your room even in the fancy hotels. However, they have to leave their certification at the desk for the duration. This accomplishes several things, they know the prostitutes are legal, tested for STDs and 18 or over. It also means if the tourist reports stuff stolen, they know who to look for.
