I'm beginning to think I'd be better off with a Kindle. I read so much on line that I prefer that type of format even over books any more. I don't have a problem paying $10 for a good book.......one I could share with my husband through the Kindle. A trip to the library is 10 miles round trip for me, and one I really don't like making. I have to wait a few weeks or even a month or more for some of the books I've ordered through the library, so the idea of having the book instantly is also very appealing.

As for the nature of mankind.........I just got through reading this....

I don't think this kind of thing could happen in America any more, but I don't believe the tendency of mankind to be cruel and or violent is gone either, and I don't believe it ever will be gone, so I'm not one to say never.

Kenneth Roberts is one of our favorite authors....We have most of his work in hardbound copies, and hubby searches the books, and gives them for gifts. I must re-read "Rabble in Arms"...now I've seen most of those places he was talking about, and it would be even more interesting.

I see they are re-printing his books today...a whole new generation of readers.

BTW tried placing Rabble in Arms on hold at my library and this is the message I got:

"This Item is not Requestable."

I'm going to ask why next time I go in.

French wine barrels come from forests planted to build the French navy.
