I also think this "recession" is going to be deep, long and bad. But, unlike you, I'm unconcerned. I've been very poor as a young hippie, and I know that how well off I am doesn't correlate to how happy I am. Besides, I never expected to live past 30, so, it's all gravy!

Memories can be misleading. That's why I rely on facts.

That's why you rely on some fantasy. Look at the facts.

Excuse me, but you're the one pulling a chicken little, not me.
I have no allusions that this will be an easy recession but I am not about to make it worse than it already is. It may turned out to be as bad as you seem to think but we're not there yet. So wait and see......you might be surprised.

And what does that mean to you?

It means a miserable retirement. It means the rest of my life will probably suck.

Then you would like to go to a cash and carry economy. Is that right?

WTF Ted, are you reading what I said?

Fine, John. I guess I am not following you. Let's drop it.

But that's what FDR did and it helped get the nation out of the Great Depression. Why was it good then and bad now? In fact, Hoover did what I think you're suggesting now and things got much worse.

I'm not "suggesting" anything. In fact I think we are F'ed no matter what we do.

Look......you are more than welcome to your opinion. I am not about to dissuade you.
