It's a war, i.e. a high-stress environment (to put it mildly). Objectivity gets thrown out the window.

I personally think it's OK for journalists to not be perfectly objective, as long as they make clear the point-of-view they are taking. Hence I have no problems with embedded journalism. It's the only way for journalists to get up close and personal with the war, even a "splendid little war" (notice the quotes) like Iraq. Just because the only representative for the other side is the Iraqi Information Minister doesn't mean the media should decline the opportunity to embed themselves with the American military.
