Even though you are trying to give him a chance, the first thing you noted was that his promise of job creation made no sense.

Well duh! The guy is all smoke and mirrors. He's talking to the people who couldn't even be constitutionally subject to execution in Texas.

Oh, there will be job creation all right. Robert Reich wants to give bridge construction jobs to the untrained chronically unemployed instead of skilled construction workers.

Maybe we could start getting those folks into other jobs as well - airline pilot, emergency room doctor, fireman. Just have to push all the trained white guys out of the way first.

After being maligned for so long, I think Bush lost heart on some level.

I agree with that, and with the previous paragraph too.

I'd have liked to see Bush come out swinging against his disrespectful opposition. Call them for what they were.

Obama is trashing Bush every chance he gets. I'm getting really sick of it. He doesn't mention names because he's too gutless.

<<Bush's principal mistake, imo, was to roll over for the democrats in the name of bi-partisanship. Even when he went along, they stuck it to him. After being maligned for so long, I think Bush lost heart on some level.>>

I think Carter lost heart in his final 18-24 months of his term as well. I cut him no slack for that and I suspect you don't either. He was the President - suck it up and lead! Things didn't go well in the first 18-24 months of Reagan's first term but he still found it within himself to be a leader.

<<Even though you are trying to give him a chance the first thing you noted was that his promise of job creation made no sense>>

That should tell you something about me. The first thing it should tell you is that I think it's REALLY important that Obama succeed on an economic level (not social) for this country. If he fails we could be looking at a depression.

The second thing it should tell you is that I'm not letting others do the thinking for me. Nobody else (here or in the media) has commented about his "create or save 3 - 4 million jobs." What if unemployment is up over his term? Does that mean it would have been higher under someone else? What if unemployment is flat? Did he save jobs?

These are the kind of disingenuous remarks we should be writing down followed by asking tough questions when the time is right. Six days into his term the time isn't right! If we call him on it now the Republicans will look bad. Right now the Rebubs need to regain some respect from the electorate and play the game right. If we start blasting Obama right out of the gates we're going to look bad EVEN if we're correct about the issues. For right now style points count! We can fire up the meat grinder later when things don't turn out as promised.
