It is difficult matter since the voting population can't discern what is and isn't a scientific theory. Indeed. Voters are ignorant so we are doomed to remain ignorant going forward lest we challenge or offend the ignorant. it is about what is and isn't science. Not what is or isn't valid "Scientific" and "valid," yet another pair being conflated. We are witnessing the demise of critical thinking. I think you have captured the problem exactly. I think it's critical to draw a line in the sand over this one. And it has nothing to do with bias against religion.
