I don't either.

Older books seem to be pretty cheap. Many, like Kenneth Roberts' books, are just as timely now as they were when written.

That's what I love about books. They sit around as an object until you pick them up. Then they spring to life like a new adventure when you do that. It doesn't matter how long they've been idle.

You could really help me if you could direct me to a book that dramatizes a passage from San Francisco to Portland in the 19th century. Or any tale that tells about rough seas and sea sickness of non-sailors.

I think I know some of that from trying to fish for salmon out of Westport. It's the only time I wished to die. I sort of got over it when I had my own boat in Alaska.

I want to know how to write about it.
