The DOJ is supposed to be a check to the actions of the government, which it is but it is also seen as tainted by the politics of the Admin.

I don't think that's exactly the way it was supposed to work.

As I recall there were to be three co-equal branches -- The Congress, the Courts (Judiciary), and the Executive Branch.

The DOJ effectively works within the structure provided by the judicial system.

It isn't a big point with me, I just think such an arrangement would require a massive rewrite of the Constitution.
