I just downloaded and installed OpenOffice. It opened a big document but did not catch all the hyperlinks I had in the table of contents.

To be fair, I should withhold any evaluation until I've had a chance to use it.

I don't think it handles Master/subdocuments, which is how I have my manuscript set up so I can write a chapter without having the whole thing loaded, or with, if I prefer.
