Their failure to innovate, which has gone on for many, many years, has finally caught up with them.

When's the last time they came up with anything new?

Back in the day, Borland created "Quattro Pro" which was the first spreadsheet to employ the "tabsheet" metaphor. A few months later MSFT puts it in Excel.

Later, Borland does it again with their Delphi/C++ Builder GUI. Same issue, different software. Still, given their monopoly power (which they do effectively possess), MSFT wins the race. Everyone is using MSFT tools, even though they suck compared with (what used to be) Borland's.

It should have been a downright embarrassment to MSFT that, even after these experiences, they allowed Firefox to beat them to the browser market with tabs.

I mean, how many times do you get the crap kicked out of you on the same blunder before you get it?
