"Ownership society" no longer means owning your own store, as you have already pointed out. That's what our parents' generation did. Own dry cleaners, own convenience stores, own gas stations. But they didn't want that kind of future for us. Instead, they told us to become doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, engineers, professionals. > I guess the reason I feel the way I do is that I instinctively believe we are better off with people who live in their community running the businesses in their community.
