Tbt is more of a speculation. Muni bonds are pretty boring and, when well diversified, extremely safe. An all New York or California fund is not well diversified. A national fund is much safer. A diversified fund with bonds insured by either Permanent School Fund or Berkshire Hathaway would not cost me any sleepless nights. Of course, there is no such critter. But some states are being well punished for their sins in the muni market right now and look like value offerings.
