I would take that question one step further back: "How important is the US image short term vs. the possibility of another major home ground hit most likely a magnitude of an order above 9/11?". Understand your question and concern, but right now we have some guys out there clearly expressing their intentions of 'getting back at us' in a major way. You may or may not take that seriously, but if you do and have no intention to wait for the disastrous evidence of the event, then what else would you suggest for protection? If the Arabs want to get us and are real committed to the goal, they will get us whether Bush or Obama is president. American borders are still porous as hell. Its one of the problems of being a democracy.
