Jack:
The experience of your daughter is exactly what I had encountered so many times when I was an instructor. Very unfortunate. Thankfully, your daughter held on to what she believes, which is fine. I can leave plenty of room there for people to disagree. My position may be incorrect. We won't know that until we get to the other side. What I bemoan is those kids who run into a literal buzz saw of scientific evidence and throw out their faith because of it. God Created the Heavens and the Earth, period. How he did it, we will see, by and by. I believe that the process he used is still here on earth to be observed. I don't like to call it evolution, because this engenders all kinds of anti-Christian connotations. So, I guess we call it theistic evolution. Perhaps there could be a better label.

I thought it was you who many moons ago first mentioned "theistic evolution" on this thread. Boy did that stir up some discussion.!

It certainly is sad that some (a lot) of issues within christianity cannot be discussed in a peaceful and loving manner by some people.

I've been walking with my precious Lord for many, many years, and in most situations over the years when any subject came up concerning God and His Son, there were always those who thought they had to shout out and cut down anyone whose views differed from their own. I learned very early (and long ago) that the best way to approach any and all controversial christian ( Controversial christians? now that might be it)... issues,is to just (if one is moved by the Spitit of God) plant the information as I would seeds. God will do the rest.... No heated debate, no arguing the points, no loud shouting, no taking it to the outer limits. In heated debates you have lost your listener and then there is a great risk of losing your cool.
It just doesn't matter. If they don't have eyes to see or ears to hear, then all the talking in the world will not be heard, no matter how peaceful or loving...It tends,in fact to cause only bitterness and strife, just what the enemy wants. And this does no good at all for the furthering of the Gospel of peace.

But you know Jack, as a matter of love, we as followers of Christ do have a responsibility and a command to bring forth the Gospel of truth, and that is where our responsibility ends. We just bring it forth, and then let the seeds take effect, and if God has prepared the heart of the receiver, they will bloom, if not, it is time to move on.

Luke 9:5
5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

The most important responsibility for followers of Christ is to bring the truth of Him who died for our sins and was resurrected by our Father for all the world. We should be the light to those who are in darkness, we should be ready in all seaons to have an answer for all who ask about our joy, about our confidence, about our hope to this end we were commissioned.!

If the entire world of christians would put their hearts into bringing the love and sacrifice of our Messiah, and the love and grace of our Father forth, and shining light in darkness instead of debating amongst ourselves and cutting down and railing against other denominations, we could as a group, do marvelous works for our Lord.

Too much energy is wasted on issues and doctrines that don't, won't and can't bring anyone closer to the love of our Lord.We must be wholly concerned about those who have a heart to know our Lord and do not.. More good would be done for more people if we focused on the love and life of our precious Lord, Jesus Christ.

Now there are some issues that need to be discussed with those who alreay are in the fold such as who comes first? The anti-christ as Jesus OR the true Jesus. And issues like whether or not christians will be here when the anti-christ does come first...Cristians need to know the truth on these issues and not the doctrines of man..But even to this extent again I say, just bring the Bible message of Jesus and Paul forth and allow the listener to choose for him/herself. The Bible speaks for itself.!
===================

Soon someone will be "cussed", you say
Dear Lord, let it not be me I Pray,
But in the case that it will be,
My heart will still be, with Thee.

For I will count it a blessing
to that there is no guessing.
I will kick the dust off my feet,
do as you have taught, and leave the heat.

Have a good day Jack, and may God our Father continue to bless you abundantly.
Shalom...><>

Prov 19:1-2
1 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
