Regional Comparison at $0.5344 per NZD.

Auckland:

Snapper costs NZ$33 a kilogram. But salmon at NZ$23 a kilogram is nice enough. Eggs are only NZ$3 a dozen.
Beef is NZ$15 a kilogram for cheaper chunks and sometimes on special at NZ$10 for rump steak.
Milk powder is NZ$10 a kilogram for full fat.

West Hollywood:

Snapper costs NZ$28.84 a kilogram. But salmon at NZ$23 a kilogram is nice enough. Eggs are only NZ$2.41 a dozen.
Beef New York Steak is NZ$24.71 a kilogram and NZ$11.55 for cheaper chunks.
Milk powder is NZ$21.41 a kilogram for full fat, while Fresh Milk is NZ$1.48 per liter - none of that powdered stuff for me.

Snapper costs $6.99 a pound. But salmon at $7.99 a pound is nice enough. Eggs are only $1.29 a dozen.
Beef New York Steak is $5.99 a pound and $2.80 for cheaper chunks.
Milk powder is $5.19 a pound for full fat, while Fresh Milk is $2.99 per gallon - none of that powdered stuff for me].

More Regional Comparison at $0.5344 per NZD. . . (keeping in mind it's Winter here and Summer in New Zealand)

Auckland:

Rice is only NZ$2 a kilogram.
Potatoes are so cheap I don't even know how much they are.

Lettuce NZ$2 each. Bananas only NZ$2 a kilogram. Onions a few dollars a sack.
Carrots are not free but near enough. Corn is NZ60c each.
Long green beans are in season and only $2 for 500 grams or so.

Rice is only NZ$2.75 a kilogram, but NZ$7.00 a kilogram for Jasmine Rice.
Potatoes are NZ$2.06 a kilogram.

I'm not sure those gold-digging bimbos know how to cook from scratch, but they can always take culinary lessons after their harsh biblical lessons. <g>

The stores here have heaps of food for all different tastes and budgets. Today at the fish market I bought fresh Alaska spot shrimp and frozen Alaska halibut, both at US$13.95/lb. Fresh troll-caught wild king salmon was available for US$21.95/lb, along with fresh sole and rockfish at US$8.95/lb, and Alaskan cod at US$5.95/lb.
