I have no problem letting the failures fail instead of propping them up time and again as they dish out dividends and bonuses. We need better financial intermediaries that do not act like casinos with other people's money.

The government is the shopper of last resort and we appear to be at the last resort before going over some kind of deflationary cliff.

Because the US consumer is very different than the Japanese consumer. The Japanese are savers. It is part of their culture. If you give them extra money, they save it. They don't spend it.
