I mainly assist my brother-in-law Tony (who is from Italy and grew up watching his father make it). He buys 800 pounds of grapes each year from California and has all the wine making equipment. He is partial to Italian varieties (the 2006 Sangiovese was very good), but is coming along with the Cabernet. The combined family effort results in about 200 bottles a year.

Tony's son Michael does most of the chemistry (measuring grape sugar content before buying and monitoring fermentation for alcohol levels); I am mainly the slave trading work for wine---and that's OK with me. We do not sell it (we couldn't without a bunch legal rigamarole). Its for family and friends.
