Google has a great filter. For their purposes, yes, I found most of the missives from the Republican fundraisers in my spam file. Strange. Now certainly the letters had the look of spam as they would have been sent identically to many people at the same time. And it could have been tricked by people marking it as spam when they received it. (Which does indicate a tricky way to limit the effectiveness of a email focused campaign: Donate a minimal amount, then mark all subsequent messages as spam)
