Truth is that US screwed with Iran in 53 giving them 26 years of the shah. That shah experience led to the Ayotollahs. I believe we should apologize for 53, but sharply draw the distinction that we will still not tolerate nukes, terrorism, or troublemaking in the middle east. We should also offer them inclusion in the global eco system (whats left of it) in exchange for compromise on the above. Iran is not al quaeda. Iran can change its mideast policy on a dime if they gain benefits from doing so. We rely too much on so called moderate arab states for peace in the region. Iran can make it happen by more or less telling hizbo and controlling hamas. Whats wrong with taking a shot here while concentrating on mutual enemy Al quaeda.
