In the wake of the financial sector's collapse, it's almost inevitable that the US will move towards a social-democratic governing style. Looks like the remaining Republican caucuses on the Hill are going to run against that.

Who wins will depend on whether the new policies deliver results. That's a fair test in the political marketplace.
