I have been sounding the alarm about melting arctic methane hydrates for quite some time. Interestingly, the evidence was delayed in showing up according to my son in law.

But there are theories this is exactly what caused the mass extinction during the permian age.

Volcanoes raised co2, which raised tempertures 5 degress, which inturn melted methane hydrates, which in turn raised temps another 5 degrees, and poof everthing died-lol.

Have you seen that commercial for natural gas where the dude says that they have one location of natural gas that can supply hundreds of thousands of homes?
That impressed me.
