HP business notebooks are still rock solid. The one you find in retail stores are made to compete with Dell, and the rest of the low end clones. Buy HP from a business reseller that does not have a show room but sells by appointment.

Lenovo Thinkpads are truly the offspring of the IBM Thinkpads. Lenovo 3000 are Chinese clones.

The problem with HP is they're made to be sold cheap. It doesn't matter whether you get AMD or INTC chips; these machines are built to compete with eMachines anymore.

Whatever... it was my worst experience with a computer and I would guess I've had 10 in my life. When it died (after 16 months) I called their customer service and after 20 menu options got somebody in tech support in India. Of course she wouldn't talk to me unless I bought a tech service plan because it was out of warranty.

I'm not sure how the 'puter industry gets away with such crap service and treatment of their customers. A close call between which industry is worse, computers or Airlines.
