John:

I asked several question as to how you (and Krugman) expect to pay for everything and not one of those did you answer.

America is in trouble today because we lived beyond our means and placed all that on the credit card. And now when things are unraveling because of that reckless spending, Krugman wants to spend in a way that should astonish us all. More of the same that got us here should at a minimum make us swallow hard.

Sure, I would like health care and and a whole bunch of other things - if we figure out how to pay for them. We have developed a mentality in this country of doing things with no sense of being able to pay for them. Is there a magic bucket of money this all comes out of and so we never have to pay it back? It's not that Krugman is a crank - it's that there just doesn't seem to be a sense of the cost.

As to the specifics of Health Care:
The fix for the "broken" system shouldn't take too much prep time.

You are dreaming if you think any meaningful change in health care will be easy. It will make the Iraq war look like a cake walk. Who pays? What do they pay for? How does it get implemented? Every single special interest group will fight and fight hard AND at every turn don't you think republicans will fight it? Of course they will - and its much easier to be defensive in congress than it is offensive.
