>>> I still have never owned a laptop. Maybe some day I will get with mobile computing.

I have used my netbook more than any other portable I've ever owned. That, combined with wireless internet through my cell carrier gives me freedom to travel that I never had before.

All of our customers are set up so that we can do support via remote desktop. If we can't do that, we don't provide them with support. So, when there's a problem it doesn't really matter where I am I can deal with it.

With a bigger laptop, it was just too much a PITA in to get it out, the battery would last no more than an hour, so I'd just blow it off 'til I could get to a machine. But there have been a number of instances where we were driving down the Interstate and my wife could drive while I solved a problem for a customer, and they never knew I wasn't in the office. I have a lot more confidence today that if a problem is complex and I need to deal with it personally then I'll be able to do it from wherever.
