Yep. They sold AutoVaz, an equivalent of US GM in Russia, for a case of vodka. The buyer got rich. The seller got happy. Folks didn't think the pieces of paper saying they are entitled to state property were worth anything. Initially they were worth a bottle, and then ... someone who bot them for that much got rich. -g- FWIW, Gorbachev was thrown out by the Russians for his alcohol prohibition stuff. Geez, they all literally hated him, especially since this was the only consolation during hard times. They chose a drunk for a leader next. Are you surprised? -g- Vodka was the currency during the last decade of Soviet Union. Everything got done if you pay with that.
