The statement (not mine BTW) was that the DoE is "a useless and expensive albatross". That's a pretty harsh slam against it but it doesn't rise to the level of saying its "the most God awful government agency ever created by mankind". Its not even remotely close to that level. Government organizations and agencies have done far worse than being expensive and useless.

If they do things that I (or the maker of that statement, or anyone else who would like to see the DoE gone) think needs to be done, that doesn't necessarily mean the DoE isn't expensive and useless. Those functions where performed before the DoE. The creation of the DoE could still be useless even if those specific functions are important.

Look at Homeland Security. Many people think its creation was expensive and useless (not sure if you agree or not), but obviously we wouldn't want to get rid of all the functions it performs.

And yes on a relative basis electric cars are not reality.

So we shouldn't talk about them?

I'm just trying to apply the idea consistently.
