I have to believe that China knows that what is bad for the U.S. is bad for China.

I do think it's time for a level playing field. Let the free market take over. And if China is not amenable to that, then let china know that we will do a reciprocal tariff policy. Let them set the policy knowing that whatever they impose on the U.S., we impose on China. Of course, I like this policy for pretty much every country.

but to the point of your post, what you suggested as a possible outcome seems unlikely. It would be a classic cutting off the nose to spite the face move. As much the rest of the world may hate the U.S., we are all interconnected. It isn't in China's or Europe, or anyone else's best interest for the U.S to collapse....well, except for bin laden and the boys.
