I don't 100% disagree. But the majority of economists, on both sides, do disagree. They are thinking 1929 redux, and they might be right. If they are, it's hard to argue against doing too much because doing too little has such dire consequences. That's their thinking.

Personally, my inclination is to only spend on things that give a clear ROI. Energy is perfect. If you give credits or subsidies to making commercial and residential buildings more energy efficient, you create jobs doing that work and manufacturing the materials. AND you get the stimulus of lower energy bills for businesses and consumers; more money in their pockets to spend for years to come.

The American people blundered terribly by electing this guy AND giving him congressional majorities. Just good sense tells you you don't do that.

Maybe. Frankly giving the same power to Republicans is what got us into this mess.
